Pollinator gardens for Austin yards, schools and campuses

Habitat that feeds monarchs, native bees and hummingbirds from spring through the fall migration, built with host plants and nectar plants in the right proportion instead of a tray of whatever bloomed at the nursery.

Texas pollinator bed with monarch butterflies on milkweed, purple coneflower, mistflower and red bee balm in mulched beds edged with limestone

What is included

  • Host plants for monarch and swallowtail caterpillars, including regional milkweed
  • Nectar plants sequenced so something is blooming every month of the season
  • Native grasses and stems left standing for overwintering bees
  • A shallow water station and sheltered bare-soil nesting area
  • Pesticide free establishment plan and an organic care schedule
  • Pollinator habitat sign for the bed when you want one

How the project runs

  1. Step 1

    Habitat assessment

We look at sun hours, existing bloom, water and what is already nesting on the property.

  2. Step 2

    Plant palette and quote

You approve a host and nectar plant list with bloom months mapped out, plus a firm price.

  3. Step 3

    Soil and bed build

Beds are shaped, amended and edged. We avoid treated mulch and any systemic pesticide near habitat.

  4. Step 4

    Planting and water station

Plants go in by layer, the water station is set, and nesting ground is left undisturbed.

  5. Step 5

    Season one care

We come back through the first season to cut back at the right time, not the convenient time.

Common questions

What does a pollinator garden cost in Austin?

A starter bed up to 100 square feet is $1,450. Larger habitat gardens run $16 to $21 per square foot, and corridor work for schools, campuses or HOAs runs $12 to $17 per square foot.

Which milkweed do you plant?

Regional natives such as antelope horns and green milkweed. We do not plant tropical milkweed, which keeps monarchs from migrating on time.

Will this attract wasps or aggressive bees?

Native bees are solitary and almost never sting. The habitat we build supports them, not paper wasp nesting near doors.

Can you certify the garden?

We build to the standards used by monarch and wildlife habitat certifications, and we will hand you the documentation to submit.
