How nominations work

Reaching out for help can feel like a big step. Here is exactly what happens, so there are no surprises.

Who can be nominated for a yard reboot?

Anyone in Austin or Travis County who could use a hand: seniors on fixed incomes, disabled veterans, neighbors healing from illness or surgery, and families facing code enforcement fines. You can nominate someone else or yourself, both are equally welcome.

What does it cost?

Nothing, ever. Yard Reboot Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity. There is no bill, no deposit, and no paperwork to prove need.

How does hiring your paid crew help?

Yard Reboot is an earned-income social enterprise. Our paid residential, commercial, and HOA grounds care runs at market rate, and 100% of net operating profit cross-subsidizes free relief work. About 22 cents of every dollar you spend becomes net profit, and roughly $700 of that covers one complete senior yard rescue.

What happens after I submit a nomination?

You will see a thank-you message right away, and a real person reads your note within a few days. We reach out by email or phone to say hello, learn a little more, and answer any questions you have.

Do you visit the property first?

Yes. We schedule a short, friendly walkthrough so we can see the yard, understand what would help most, and plan the right crew and equipment. Nothing happens without the homeowner saying yes.

How long does the work take?

Most yards are cleared, mowed, and refreshed in a single day. Larger properties or garden bed builds can take a second visit, and we will always tell you what to expect ahead of time.

Will my story be shared publicly?

Only with permission. Sharing before and after stories helps other neighbors find us and helps supporters see where their giving goes, but you can decline and we will still show up.

How long is the wait?

It depends on the season and how many crews we have out, so timing can vary. Urgent situations, like mounting code fines or a safety hazard, move to the front of the line.

Still wondering about something? Email psedillo@yardreboot.org and a person will write back.
