The Dual Engine

How paid projects fund free yard care

Yard Reboot Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity that runs its own landscaping business. Hiring us is the donation.

  1. 1

You hire our Pro Services crew

Native landscaping, stonework, drainage, weekly upkeep. Real commercial-grade work, priced fairly for the market.

  2. 2

Costs are covered, profit is set aside

Wages, insurance, fuel, equipment and overhead come out first. What is left is net profit, and it does not go to shareholders. There are none.

  3. 3

Net profit becomes a free yard

About $700 of crew time, materials and hauling restores one neighbor's yard. Each one also clears roughly $500 in municipal code fines that household would have faced.

No overhead skim and no middle step. Every dollar of net profit goes back out the gate as free relief for a neighbor who cannot pay.

Four groups, one standard of care

We do not means-test anyone or ask for documents that are hard to gather. We look for the signs that a household needs a hand, and then we show up.

Low-income seniors 65 and older

Neighbors who have kept the same house for decades and simply cannot push a mower through Texas heat anymore. We take the yard back so they can stay where their memories are.

Veterans and their households

Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. Service did not end when they came home, and neither does ours.

Neighbors living with illness or limited mobility

When treatment, recovery or a wheelchair makes yard work impossible, a safe walkway and a clear path to the door matter more than curb appeal.

Households facing municipal code citations

A tall-grass notice can turn into fines a family cannot pay, and in the worst cases a lien on the home. We clear the violation before the penalty grows.

About those code citations

In Austin, grass and weeds over 12 inches can bring a written notice from Code Compliance. If the yard is not cleared in time, the city can abate the property and bill the owner, and unpaid charges can become a lien against the home.

For a senior on a fixed income, that sequence is how a mowing problem becomes a housing problem. Clearing the yard before the deadline is the cheapest, kindest intervention there is, and it is why code citation households are one of our four priority groups.
