Who qualifies
- Adults 60 and older living on a fixed income
- Disabled veterans and service-connected households
- Homebound neighbors, or anyone recovering from surgery or illness
- Households facing a city code citation they cannot afford to clear
- Caregivers and family members requesting on behalf of someone they look after
- Neighbors nominating someone who would never ask for themselves
What a free visit covers
- Overgrowth, tall grass, and brush cut back to code height
- Storm debris, dead limbs, and fallen branches removed
- Heavy brush and cedar cleared back from the house
- Walkways, driveways, and entrances cleared so they are safe to use
- Every bag and pile we create hauled away
There is no bill, no deposit, and no paperwork proving need. The work is paid for by our commercial and residential customers, whose net profit funds these visits.
How to ask, step by step
- Tell us about the yard using the free help form, or call and we will fill it out with you.
- A coordinator calls within two business days to check access, hazards, gates, pets, and a workable date.
- A paid crew arrives with the equipment and hauling the job needs.
- You receive before and after photos, which also close out a code case if one is open.
If you are a veteran
Veteran households can also come through their VFW Post, Legion hall, or county veterans service officer, and those organizations can refer directly to us. Our veteran page covers code fine defense and accessible sanctuary spaces in more detail.
Other places to look
- Your county veterans service officer, who tracks local benefit and volunteer programs
- The Area Agency on Aging for your county, which maintains referral lists for home upkeep
- Your city or county code office, which often knows which nonprofits clear citation cases
- Nearby VFW Posts, American Legion halls, and church volunteer teams
- Local Scout troops, whose service projects frequently take on yard work
Common questions
Is there really free lawn care for seniors in Texas?
Yes, in places. It usually comes from nonprofits, veteran service organizations, faith congregations, and volunteer programs rather than from a state agency. In the Austin metro, Yard Reboot Project runs free cleanups funded by our paid landscaping work, so there is no bill to the household.
Who qualifies?
Adults 60 and older on a fixed income, disabled veterans and service-connected households, homebound neighbors, anyone recovering from surgery or illness, and households facing a city code citation they cannot afford to clear. Caregivers can request on someone's behalf.
Do I have to prove my income?
No. We do not means-test. We ask for your contact details, the address, and enough about the yard to send the right crew and equipment.
How long does it take?
A coordinator calls within two business days to confirm access, hazards, and a date. Scheduling then depends on crew routing and how urgent the situation is. Active code deadlines and safety hazards move to the front.
What if I am outside the Austin metro?
Start with your county veterans service officer, your local Area Agency on Aging, your city or county code office, and nearby VFW Posts and Legion halls. Many of them keep a list of volunteer crews. Local churches and Eagle Scout projects also take on yard work for neighbors.
